Why Dormed

Two ways to see a campus.
Only one of them is honest.

The official tour

40 people, one script.

  • Rehearsed talking points, approved route.
  • A group of strangers, none in your kid's major.
  • Questions saved for the last five minutes.
Dormed
The Dormed walk

One student, just for you.

  • Matched by major and interests, with the reasons shown.
  • Real dining halls, real study spots, the places students actually go.
  • Ask anything for the whole walk, and get a straight answer.

How it works

Three stops to a booked tour.

01

Tell us about your student

University, intended major, sports, interests. Takes about a minute.

02

Get matched instantly

See your top 3 guides, each with the reasons they match your kid.

03

Book and sign your waiver

Meet at the student union. Parents stay within sight the whole tour.

For students

Get paid to walk your own campus.

No script and no training weekend. You set your weekly availability, bookings land on your calendar, and you show a family the campus you already know.

Become a Guide

Your hours. Mark the slots you are free; nothing books outside them.

Paid per tour. Handled in the app before you meet.

Your campus, your story. Families pick you because you share their kid's major.

Founding campuses

Starting where we're students ourselves.

Dormed started at two campuses while we get the experience right. Every guide registers with a .edu address at the school they show.

Questions parents ask

Fair questions, straight answers.

Is my kid alone with a stranger?

No. A parent or guardian stays within sight for the whole tour, and it all happens in public areas of campus. No private dorm rooms.

Who are the guides?

Students who registered with a .edu address at the school they show and confirmed it by email. That is an email check, not a background check.

What does it cost?

Every tour is a flat $40.00, charged once when you book. No add-ons and no tipping in the app.

What if we need to cancel?

Cancel more than 24 hours ahead and the full $40.00 goes back to your card automatically. Inside that window you get 50% back, $20.00 of $40.00.

Which campuses?

Northwestern, Stanford & USC while the pilot runs. We would rather run a few campuses properly than every campus badly.

How are matches made?

You give us the school, the major and any interests. Dormed scores the guides at that school on fit, nudges the order by their rating, and you pick.
